The NEW TEC-905 speaker selector with volume control will grant you to use two stereos with up to 10 speakers (5 pairs) placed around the house, restaurant, office, warehouse etc. You may turn each set of speakers on and off, and adjust the volume for each pair as well. The input for the TEC-905 comes from your stereos, amps, receivers, etc. This just means you take the speaker wires from the back of your stereo, amp, etc. and plug them into the either input terminals on the back of the TEC-905. Great value, sturdy clamps

These clamps are sturdy and handle heavy volume with no problems. Ignore any other comments claiming that these are cheap or poorly made. I am a portrait photographer and am constantly taking backdrops down and putting them up before and during a shoot. These clamps have never slipped or broken even though I usually attach and reattach them quickly during shoots. They ARE plastic, but it is a strong and rugged type of plastic that won’t break if used correctly. In addition, the orange “teeth” do an excellent job of assuring grip.
The price is right as well. Buy them already and worry about more important things.

Great little clamps!

I’m ordering my second batch because they are so handy! I’m a photographer and I don’t really use them to hold up muslin, but I have a lot of paper backdrops and I use them to keep the rolls tight for storage, they don’t ruin the paper. Also, I use the clamps to hold these backdrops to foam boards and my backdrop stand. Normal metal clams indent the foam board and ruin these drops. I use them all the time to clamp anything, shears to a curtain rod…again, they are very, very handy to have around!

They work well and are priced accordingly. Compact. Strong grip. Recommended for grasping pipe sizes from 3/4 inch to 1 1/4 inches in diameter. Tips of clamp adapt to create nice a grip on flat object. Cheap enough that if you lose them you just buy another pack. I ordered 6 packs just because I’m always losing these things.

Now I’m Happy with WD Live Plus

I purchased the WD Live Plus HD Media Player to watch movies from my Windows Home server. I got tired of all the DVD’s and no where to store them so I built a WHS from an old computer and ordered the WD Live plus. I ran a CAT5 cable to my LCD, hooked up the WD Live Plus and it automatically connected to my WHS. I was up and running in as little as 5 minutes streaming a video on the big screen. The 1st movie played flawlessly until I started to watch the 2nd movie. Towards the middle of the movie, WD Live started to freeze up. At first I thought it was my server so I rebooted the WHS and was back up and running again. Started to watch the movie and froze again. Now I’m getting very upset. Now I powered off/on the WD Live Plus and same issue. Some movies played with no issues and some movies just locked up. Now I’m getting upset with this media Player. I checked WD’s website and could not find any solution to the device freezing so I ordered the “Asus O! Player” unit to replace my piece of crap WD live Plus. I was already to mail it back and connect the Asus O! Player but something told me to check the WD support website one more time before I mail back WD Live Plus HD Media Player.

A Real Review from a Real Owner

I just got the WD TV Live Plus and I have to say that I’ve finally found the perfect media streamer (for now).

I’ve had the WD TV Live (not plus version) for about 5 months and it’s served me well, streaming up just about every type of movie file that I’ve ever encountered. When I purchased the non-plus version, the only two features that I really wanted that it was missing was NetFlix support and full DVD menu support.

Yes, I am a bummered that my existing non-plus version can’t support NetFlix, but I very well knew that what I purchased it.

Please Note: Most of the non-plus version marketing material says that it doesn’t support full DVD menu navigation, but WD just came out with a firmware update that DOES add DVD menu support – Kuddos to WD for listening to their customers and giving them what they want.

Regarding the NetFlix support, the PLUS version has a different chip inside of it that is required for NetFlix support (something about copy protection). The non-plus version does not have the required chip in order to support NetFlix so if you read some rants about WD trying to !@#$% their customers, it’s probably non-plus owners who feel cheated that they have to buy a new product to get NetFlix support.

I understand their frustration, but the truth of the matter is that there is nothing WD can do in order to get the non-plus to support NetFlix.

On the other hand, they *have* just added DVD menu support to the non-plus version, so anyone who says that they stop supporting the older products doesn’t know what they’re talking about.

To the point of the review, the NetFlix supports both queue playing (when you already have stuff added to your play now queue) AND browsing.

This is my first NetFlix player (other than my PC) so I can’t really compare it to other NetFlix players. I know the Xbox also supports browsing, but I think that most other stand alone players do not support browsing.

The activation process was surprisingly easy (I just went to the NetFlix site and entered a code the Plus gave me).

Regarding HD content, I’m not 100% sure if the Plus supports this, but last night I was viewing some 30 rock episodes and it looked *really* good, better than viewing a DVD.

When starting to view a NetFlix video, it took about 15-20 seconds from when I clicked on play to when the video started playing. I don’t know if this is good or bad. No streaming issues once it started playing. My device is connected directly to my router.

I also played around with the new MediaFly feature. Never heard of it before. Basically it aggregates some audio and video podcasts by topic. I saw some CNN and NPR content which is cool.

Overall I’d say this is the best media streamer ->currently<- on the market.

I emphasize currently as I REALLY wanted to get a POPBOX, which sounds like a better option (at least on paper), but it still isn’t out and I got tired of waiting for it to be released.

Lastly, I know I didn’t cover other aspects of the PLUS, but other than NetFlix support (and I think MediaFly support) the plus and non-plus devices are identical so go read some non-plus reviews for more info

A few people correctly mentioned that the DVD menu support for the non plus version isn’t officially out yet since it’s still in beta.

Stick with the Non-Plus version – Buggy!

Before I get started, let me give you some background. I’ve owned 2 WD Live (non-plus) models for about a year. I upgraded the 2 non-plus models to (2 of them, so you can’t blame faulty hardware) plus models, which was a big mistake. The reason I did this was that the WD Live is a great product and I wanted to add Netflix support.

So let me start with the positives
*It plays practically everything
*The interface is simple and straight forward
*Support for Youtube, Pandora, Netflix
*Streams 1080p with no issue
*Really easy to setup

Now for the negatives
*The firmware is buggy. There hasn’t been a single firmware released since the product has been out either.
*If your networked drive is asleep, the Plus will hang at connecting 95% of the time (non-plus wouldn’t do that). You have to do something else on the device before trying again or turn it off and on again to try to connect again – It’s like it caches the info
*Takes like 30 seconds to turn on (non-plus takes like 2)
*Menu navigation is slower compared to the non-plus
*It won’t remember the place you stopped in a movie/show if you turn off the device (non-plus didn’t have this issue)
*Netflix – you can’t ‘search’ for a movie. You can only pick from the selection that is presented. If you want add other movies, you have to do that from you computer.
*If you drop connection while connecting to Netflix, then the device will not try the connection again after you fix network issue. You have to shut off the box and turn it back on
*You can’t customize what network devices to show on the menu. It shows all devices on your network (same issue with non-plus)

So I would suggest skipping the buggy Plus version getting the WD Live Non-Plus, because that is a great unit, and do netflix via your tv, wii, ps3 or 360.

UPDATE After 6 months: Western Digital has issued updates to this device, but broke other things and made things worse. If you have bought this device, I would suggest a custom firmware from b-rad. This fixes most of the complaints I listed above.

There is a third option these days to download music to Zune players. It is rather new and revolutionary. For a flat fee, you may actually buy a each year or lifetime membership to salaried services for limitless Zune music downloads. There are more than a million songs and soundtracks to download. This substitute is getting more standard amidst youngsters these days due to it is affordability and constantly modified database.

Terrific Affordable Media Player

This little device is a high quality and very easy to use ‘MP3′ player. Of course it does more than just play music. From a usability perspective, I think it rivals the iPod interface and provides more feedback. While I really love the device, there are some things that I wish were a little better.

Pros

- Very nice screen and just big enough that if you were stuck on a plane, watching a movie still is an enjoyable experience.
- Simple and very intuitive interface. I love the fact that the iPod-like wheel actually rotates.
- Expansion via MicroSD cards is a great feature. I was able to swap the MicroSD card between my BlackBerry and the Fuze and be able to share images, and music.
- The FM Radio and ability to record from it is one of the coolest features. There’s something about the randomness about radio that I still really like. And the ability to record a song that I don’t already have can save you some money.
- I haven’t used the external mic yet, but I think that’s a neat feature to have when you have a thought and want to record it. I can think of several times where I’ve had a thought and wasn’t able to write it down.

Cons

- The most frustrating experience I’ve had with the Fuze is the ability to get Video transferred. I’ve tried multiple formats and have been very unsuccessful in finding the right format to use. This is the main reason I’ve not given it a full 5 star review. Of course it’s ridiculous to think that this would be a ‘Movie’ player. However, I have some great concerts that I would love being able to watch as well as listen to. I’m not interested in watching a movie.
- The on/off switch is great if you want to make sure that you don’t accidentially turn on/off. However, I think it’s overly difficult. Especially if you have large fingers. I would have preferred to press the Play button for a couple of seconds.
- The device ‘hiccups’ when scrolling through music that has album art. For some reason, when you get to the list of albums, the select button doesn’t work until the album art appears. Often requiring you to double-click. Not a big deal, unless you’re quickly trying to find a song to add to the play list.
- Finally, the device is either too new or not popular enough to warrant accessories. I really want to buy a protective cover, but they don’t exist. I’ve read that some people are using Nano covers, but they don’t fit well enough. This is really bad if you want to use the Fuze while exercising or cutting the lawn.

Overall, I would highly recommend the Fuze to anyone looking for a low-cost small media device. The cons shouldn’t sway you away from buying it, but they are good to know. I’ll update my review when I figure out the right combination of video formats for the device.

Amazing Little Digital Audio Player

What I really like about it is the size, capacity, and most of all price.

The codec support is about average, not great but it satisfies my needs as 99% of my music is encoded in mp3 format.

One of my dislikes is common among all sandisk mp3 players(and most other players) is that the charging/syncing port is proprietary. Not a big issue, mini-usb would have been nice though.

Video playback was smooth(used a mp4 350MB recorded tv show) no sync problems between the audio/video and no stuttering. Too small to really be considered for video playback though.

Picture viewing is about the same as video and by that I mean it works great and the pictures look ok but the screen is so small it is not practical to show off pics with it.

Voice recording works well, don’t have to hold it directly to my face to clearly record sounds…although I’m not sure what this can be used for but it is there and works well.

The radio works great, easy station browsing, easy to add stations to presets, and reception is very clear.

The sound is very accurately produced at all ranges. The included headphones fit well and sound good. The volume goes up much higher than I could ever think I would need it. For those of you who are runners, I use the earphones that come with it and they direct the sound very well into my ears so I do not have to make it too loud and can still hear some of the environmental sounds: wind noise is hardly noticeable.

The screen is easy to see in all light conditions, bright, and easy to read.

The build quality feels great. It has generous weight to it, light enough to take running and not really notice it but heavy enough to give it a solid feel. The front of the device is a bit shiny and does tend to attract fingerprints easily but not scratches so far.

Expansion port works great, currently using a 4GB microsdhc to shuttle podcasts/audiobooks between it my pc.

Navigation is a breeze and the menus are very intuitive, the scroll wheel/buttons are easy to find and press even with the player not in sight.

Syncing I very easy to do without the need for bloated software. You can add media to it via a file explorer(drag & drop) or one of several media players like WMP, winamp, and a variety of others. The datbase is auto-updating and works flawlessly. I have seen a few reviews that say the database refresh takes a while. With a completely full internal memory and half full 4gb card my refreshes only take 15-30 seconds.

A few final notes. The boot-up is about 3-5 seconds from off to playing music after pressing the power button. It will resume the music exactly where you left it when turning it off. Actual usable memory is about 7.8 GB. 4 1/2 out of 5 stars, best on the market right now but not perfect of course.

UPDATE: 2 new “cons” I have come across. Technically the device is performing as intended but I am hoping for a firmware update to “resolve” these.

1. When scrolling, the speed of scrolling does not increase. Basically takes forever if the song you want is in the second half of the alphabet. This will probably be changed in the next firmware update though.

2. The podcasts are sorted by most recent first. This kind of makes since so you dont have to scroll to the bottom to listen to the newest one but it also causes a problem if you are trying to listen to a series in order and it starts playing through them backwards. Probably no “fix” for this issue although being able to choose how it is sorted would be great.

Fantastic

I did a lot of research before purchasing the Fuze. My research led me to narrow my choice to two options. One being the Fuze, the other being the IPod Nano. In the end I bought both units. The Fuze I paid cash for from Amazon, the Ipod I redeemed credit card points to obtain.
After having both for about a month now I don’t understand why anyone would buy an Ipod. Other than the beautifully designed packaging and product it is the most difficult proprietary product out there. You have to use Itunes to register the unit and load music. In my case downloading Itunes messes with my Windows Media Player which I use as a player linked to a hard drive which is my in home music server. In order to fix the software conflicts between Itunes and Windows Media I had to resort to uninstalling Itunes which by it self did not solve the problem. Only after defragementing my hard drive did the problem go away.
The Sansa Fuze was so simple to load with music I was amazed. Simplily plug it in and drag and drop. It even gives you the option of specifying what type of music file you prefer (ie compressed or not). With storage expansion via card and an FM player it is fantastic.
So while I appreciate the visual design of the Ipod it is extremely over rated to me. Don’t buy an Ipod unless you are only interested in looks over performance.

very pretty case- but very cheaply made

This case was very pretty. I only had a it about a week. The case did not sit flush on the top of the phone and the case cracked. I did not drop the phone or mishandle the case. I was so disappointed. I recieved lots of compliments on the case. I just wished the quality of the case was made better. I did recieve the case quickly and it was an easy transaction.

pretty flowers, but…

This case is very pretty, but the flowers are not white… they are transparent. i didn’t like that because that means that the apple logo on the back of the iphone showed through one of the flowers – partially. i prefer if it either shows all or none of the logo. also, if you have the black iphone, the flowers aren’t as bright as they are shown in the picture.

other than looks, once you get the case snapped on to the phone it fits very snugly and is difficult to get off (what you are looking for in a case, right?)

Bad buy

I ordered this case and the first shipment got lost in the mail. I finally received the second shipment about 3 weeks after placing the first order. The case did not fit my Iphone 3G well (the bottom would not snap together). After about a day, I tryed to press the bottom to close it and the snaps broke – very easily. It took me longer to get the case than the time I acutally used it. I have ordered cases from them before with no problems; however, the case is of bad quality.

Works a Little Too Well

It did not come with instructions, but it was easy enough to figure out. The mirror is fantastic, you can see perfectly in it. HOWEVER the only time you can clearly see the ipod screen is in a dark room. any light in the room at all and you have to battle your own reflection to see the screen. It is great if you dont do anything visual on your screen, like just use the ipod for music. HOWEVER if you play games or watch things on your ipod this will screen protector will not work for you.

I like this mirror protector screen. it was kinda hard to put it on my Ipod touch 4th gen since I never did this before, but after a couple of minutes, it turned out very snazzy :] very shiny. recommend you put your screen brightness up high, so you’ll be able to see your apps screen clearly.

I’ll give it 5 stars, but . . .

I chose this little box over the NBox and other comparable media players, mainly because it has a wider array of audio/video ports, and it pretty much splits the difference price-wise. I am using the HDMI port for my plasma screen, and the digital coaxial port for my receiver. I am beholden to Western Digital My Passport Essential USB drives, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. The HD picture looks fantastic, and the booming 5.1 surround sound far exceeds what I could get out of my laptop. It browses reasonably fast through your files, folders, and sub-folders, and it offers continuous playback of your media. It played AVI, MPG, MP4, VOB, MKV, and pictures with no problems. The box is packed with composite cables and a short component video cable. It has two USB ports, and you can supposedly copy/paste/delete between the two, and apparently you can play a photo slideshow and music simultaneously, neither of which I have tried yet.

However, it does have it’s shortcomings. Like most remotes, this one is a little user un-friendly, and doesn’t seem to work when you’re more than 10 feet away. The manual is scrawny and somewhat disorganized, so read it carefully. It wouldn’t cooperate with one of my drives for some reason, and it also wouldn’t play any of my Flash videos, not that I ever save them anyway. I put a movie on pause for a few minutes; when I resumed play the audio became out of sync, and I had to cue backwards to align it again. Still, the pros far outweigh the cons–I doubt I’ll burn a DVD ever again.

Some tips: if you hook this up and turn it on and get no picture, repeatedly push the “TV Out” button on your remote first, the menu should soon come up in sharp full-color form. I recommend powering down the unit using the on/off switch on the back, rather than using the remote. It’s supposed to go into “standby”, but it seems to me that it still uses too much power for being inactive, and I’m more comfortable shutting the player down completely before I remove the USB cable. If your movie file is encoded with AC3 audio and you’re using a hi-fi, set the digital out to “RAW” so your receiver can decode the Dolby Digital/DTS soundtrack, otherwise you’ll just get 2-channel stereo.

All in all, a remarkably versatile little gadget that should round out any home theater, whether you’re running out of storage space for your DVDs and CDs, or if you want a convenient way to move your PC experience to the living room. I just hope it’s as durable as it performs.

Five stars, No buts! – Read the full review.

I received my new Mplay-HD yesterday and have been using it pretty extensively, throwing a large variety of videos at it and exploring all the features. I can say without reservation that this is currently the best low cost HD media player available.

I’ve been using digital media players for a few years now, starting with the earlier TVIX models in 2008, and I’ve owned other brands such as WD, Seagate, Asus, and most recently this Micca unit. The main draw for me to this unit is that it’s one of first players to have the new Realtek 1055 chipset. This chipset was released in late 2010 and players using it started showing up in early 2011. The best thing about the 1055 is that it delivers the same video and audio decoding capabilities as the high end Realtek and Sigma Design chips, but they keep the cost down by not including network, SATA, USB3.0, and other features which users may or may not want. Essentially, if you want a well performing stand alone media player and you want it cheap, a player with the Realtek 1055 should be at the top of your list.

Back to the MPLAY-HD, it’s small, about the size of a paperback novel, but thinner. It’s also very light, all plastic case with probably just a single circuit board inside and a few screws. The front and back have a glossy panel while the rest of the player is matte black, so finger prints don’t show up unless you were just eating fried chicken. The back panel has HDMI, component video, and AV jacks. I didn’t see component video mentioned in the specs but it’s there.

I tried a variety of different videos and music files, some more difficult to play than others, and this player handled them all. Most of the files were MKV, AVI, MP4, MOV, but I also tried a few ISOs of DVDs and BDs, some TS files, and some older WMV files. Sound track types included some of the more demanding formats like multi-channel AAC, Dolby TrueHD, and DTS-HD, all played without issues. But I expected this since the Realtek 1055 is well known to be a great audio/video decoder chip. It’s amazing how far this market has come, where a low cost player like this can handle just about everything out there, including stuff that even a low end PC can’t even play correctly. So for video/audio compatibility and performance, the Mplay-HD gets a solid “A”, “A+” if you consider the price.

As with other Realtek 1055 players, the Mplay-HD has a media indexing function. All the videos, music, and photos that the player finds on a drive you attach to it gets added to an index. The first time it does the indexing can take a short while, especially if you attach say a 2TB drive up to it full of media files. But after that everything is very quick. If you select say “movies” from the main screen, you are immediately shown a list of all movies, no delay at all. To find what you want to play, you bring up the search menu and start typing in the a part of the name of the file you are looking for. For example, if you want to continue watching your episodes of The Family Guy, just enter “fam” press search, and the player will show you all files that have “fam” in its file name, again with no delay at all. The indexing has more parameters for music, so in addition to searching by file name, you can list music by artist, album, and etc. I find this much more convenient than the old way of going through layers of folders, endless scrolling, and etc.

The only downside to this is that for those with well planned and well disguised layers of folders holding super special videos – guys you know who you are – the MPLAY-HD will find and index those and make them available for searching. And with the way those video titles play off of real movie titles… You’ve been warned. Lets move on.

But what if you *LIKE* going through layers of folders and doing endless scrolling to get to your movies? No problem, the Mplay-HD lets you do that with a file browser feature. It’s there, but I haven’t used it. According to the manual, it can be used to create play lists, but I find it easier to manage my playlists on the computer and save them in a m3u format, which the Mplay-HD understands and can play.

Setup and configuration is straight forward, since the Mplay-HD seems to auto detect what connection I am using. And if I set it to HDMI Auto, it’ll even automatically determine the best resolution to use. It’s completely pain free. There’s quite a few configuration settings available for various things, and the manual does a good job of going through each setting, including recommendations for usage scenarios.

So there you have it, a great piece of modern consumer electronics using the latest technology and offered at a price that just a couple of years ago was unthinkable. I for one am thankful that the march of technology means that great products become cheaper as time goes on. For those looking for a digital media player that offers top notch playback performance and an attractive price, look no further than the Mplay-HD.

Or if you have looked further, look back and get the Mplay-HD. Either way.

Great Device

This thing has played every file type that I have thrown at it. It’s small and can be easily concealed, but like the pervious reviews, the remote needs to be pointed directly at the device. Setup is a breeze, just configure to widescreen (16:9) and set the tv resolution to 480p,720p,1080p etc.
